About This Piece
The most meaningful knives are often the ones built for a specific person.
This handcrafted hunter was created as a special gift for Jeff's longtime friend Chuck, combining traditional materials, practical design, and personal touches that make the piece truly one of a kind.
Forged from high carbon steel, the blade features a distinctive hammered texture that gives the knife both character and individuality. The textured finish creates visual depth while preserving the rugged spirit of a hardworking field knife.
The handle combines Purple Heart wood and Mesquite, bringing together two beautiful hardwoods with contrasting tones and grain patterns. Carefully shaped for comfort and balance, the handle reflects the craftsmanship and attention to detail found throughout the knife.
A nickel silver and brass guard provides a striking transition between blade and handle, adding warmth and refinement while complementing the natural colors of the wood.
Unlike many of Jeff's knives, this full tang construction does not feature spine filework. Instead, the forged texture of the blade becomes the defining visual element, giving the knife a character all its own.
The handcrafted leather sheath carries perhaps the most personal detail of all—a 1943 Walking Liberty half dollar, representing Chuck's birth year. More than decoration, the coin transforms the sheath into part of the story and serves as a lasting tribute to friendship and shared history.

Maker's Note:
Some knives are built to celebrate craftsmanship. Others are built to celebrate people. This one was made for a good friend, and the details were chosen to reflect that. The coin on the sheath represents more than a birth year—it represents a friendship that has stood the test of time.
