About This Piece

Some knives are built to blend in. Others are impossible to overlook.

This handcrafted Damascus trailing point hunter combines modern materials with traditional bladesmithing techniques, creating a knife that commands attention from every angle. From the flowing Damascus pattern to the striking copper-and-black resin handle, every element works together to create a piece that is both functional and unmistakably unique.

The blade is forged from Damascus steel, revealing bold layered patterns that flow from guard to tip. The trailing point profile gives the knife its distinctive sweeping silhouette, creating a long cutting edge and elegant lines that have made the design a favorite among hunters and collectors alike.

A carbon fiber bolster provides a modern contrast to the traditional Damascus blade while adding strength and visual depth to the overall design. The transition from blade to handle is clean and purposeful, highlighting the craftsmanship throughout the build.

The handle is crafted from copper and black swirl polyester resin, producing dramatic movement and color that shifts with changing light. Rich copper tones appear suspended within deep black layers, creating an almost molten appearance that makes each handle completely unique. A decorative mosaic pin adds another custom touch and serves as a focal point within the handle.

Along the spine, detailed hand filework showcases the extra time and attention devoted to the piece. Visible from above and appreciated in hand, the filework adds texture and character while emphasizing the handcrafted nature of the knife.

Paired with a handcrafted leather sheath, this knife balances modern materials with traditional craftsmanship, resulting in a piece equally suited for display, collection, or field use.

Maker's Note:

Every now and then a handle material takes on a life of its own. The copper swirl in this piece reminded me of flowing metal, and I knew the blade needed to match its energy. Sometimes the materials help guide the design.
