About This Piece
Some of the best knife designs begin with a simple need.
This handcrafted Damascus drop point was originally inspired by requests from professional tree service crews who wanted a compact knife they could carry while working high above the ground. Whether cutting rope, trimming line, or handling everyday tasks in the field, they needed a blade that was lightweight, dependable, and easy to carry without sacrificing performance.
The result is this compact Damascus drop point.
Forged from Damascus steel, the blade displays the flowing layered patterns that make every knife unique. The drop point profile provides excellent control and versatility, making it well suited for utility work, everyday carry, and outdoor use.
A hand-engraved nickel silver bolster adds a touch of traditional craftsmanship while providing a smooth transition from blade to handle. The engraving is subtle, complementing the knife's working roots without overwhelming the design.
The handle is crafted from honeycomb-pattern polyester resin, creating a bold and modern appearance that immediately sets this knife apart. The vivid green honeycomb pattern contrasts beautifully against the darker background, giving the handle depth, energy, and visual texture. Despite its striking appearance, the shape remains comfortable and practical for daily use.
Detailed hand filework along the spine reflects the extra attention devoted to every piece leaving the forge. It is the kind of detail that may not be necessary for function, but it speaks volumes about the pride invested in the craftsmanship.
Compact, durable, and built for real-world use, this knife is proof that a hardworking tool can still be a work of art.

Maker's Note:
This knife started with a request from a tree crew looking for something small, dependable, and easy to carry while working. I liked the challenge of building a compact knife that could handle real work while still carrying the details and craftsmanship I put into my larger pieces.
