Forged Through the Fire – Custom Wax Seal & Engraved Keepsake

Some pieces are created for beauty. Others are created to preserve a story.

In 2016, local business VHC Brands suffered a devastating fire that destroyed much of what had been built through years of hard work, sacrifice, and determination. The smoke could be seen for miles, and for a moment, all anyone could do was stand still and watch as flames consumed a lifetime of effort.

But hardship has a way of revealing character.

In the days that followed, the owners and employees of VHC Brands did what strong people do — they gathered themselves, leaned on faith, and began rebuilding step by step. The road forward wasn’t easy, but perseverance rarely is. Through determination, faith, and grit, they chose not to let the fire define the end of their story.

After the remains of the building had been cleared away, one of the owners, Ken Kline, walked the property collecting bolts, nuts, and pieces of steel left behind from the ruins. When Jeff saw a video of that moment, he immediately knew he wanted to create something meaningful from one of those pieces — something that honored both the hardship and the strength it revealed.

Using one of the salvaged bolts from the fire, Jeff transformed the piece into a handcrafted wax seal and keepsake. The top of the bolt was hand engraved with the letter “K” and inlaid with 24k gold. Around the facets, he engraved both the company name and the scripture reference Romans 5:1–5 — a passage centered on perseverance, faith, and hope through tribulation.

When the bolt is unscrewed from the base, it reveals a traditional wax seal engraved with the company initials surrounded by laurel leaves — a symbol of endurance, strength, and victory through adversity.

Every detail of this piece was created by hand, turning a remnant of destruction into something lasting and meaningful.

This project represents more than engraving and metalwork. It represents the idea that even after fire and hardship, something stronger can still be forged from what remains.
