About This Piece
Some knives are built for utility.
Others are built to showcase what is possible when craftsmanship, materials, and imagination come together.
The Imperial Damascus Bowie represents that pursuit.
Measuring approximately 14 inches overall, this handcrafted Bowie combines premium materials, intricate detail work, and bold design into a knife that commands attention from every angle.
The blade is forged from Damascus steel, displaying dramatic flowing patterns that extend throughout its length. The forward section of the blade features a sharpened false edge, creating a striking double-edged profile near the tip while enhancing the classic Bowie silhouette.
One of the most distinctive features of the knife is the extensive hand filework that continues beyond the handle and onto the spine of the blade itself. This uncommon detail transforms the knife into a true showcase piece while demonstrating the patience and precision invested in its construction.
The handle combines stabilized burlwood, fossilized ivory, and Wenge wood, creating a rich blend of texture, color, and history. Each material contributes its own character, while the combination produces a handle that feels both refined and timeless.
A hand-engraved brass bolster provides an elegant transition from blade to handle, while a Damascus pommel cap completes the design and ties the entire piece together. Every component was selected to complement the others, creating a knife that feels cohesive from guard to pommel.
This is not simply a Bowie knife. It is a statement of craftsmanship, material selection, and artistic vision.

Maker's Note:
Every now and then a knife becomes an opportunity to explore ideas that go beyond function alone. The combination of fossilized ivory, Damascus steel, and extended filework allowed me to create a piece that celebrates craftsmanship while still honoring the classic Bowie form that inspired it.
