About This Piece

Some knives are built from premium materials.

Others are built from stories.

The Powersite Heritage Hunter brings together three remarkable pieces of history and transforms them into a functional work of art. Every major component of this knife began its life serving a different purpose before being carefully crafted into something entirely new.

The blade was forged from an antique file discovered at a flea market, giving new purpose to a tool that had already served generations of craftsmen. The high carbon steel provides excellent edge retention while preserving a connection to its working past.

The copper bolster carries a unique history of its own. It was sourced from the original Powersite Dam during demolition, preserving a piece of local heritage and incorporating it directly into the knife. Rather than allowing the material to disappear into history, it now continues its story in a new form.

The handle is crafted from vintage natural Micarta recovered from a long-closed wire mill. The material's warm color, subtle grain, and proven durability make it a fitting companion to the reclaimed steel and copper. Together, the materials create a knife that feels grounded in history while remaining fully functional for modern use.

Crosshatched thumb serrations along the spine provide additional control and grip while reinforcing the knife's practical working nature. Loveless fasteners complete the construction and provide a clean, timeless appearance.

More than a knife, this piece represents preservation through craftsmanship. Materials that once belonged to different eras, industries, and purposes have been brought together and given a second life.

Maker's Note:

I have always enjoyed working with materials that carry a history of their own. Every major component of this knife had already lived a life before it reached my workbench. Rather than allowing those materials to be forgotten, I wanted to give them a new purpose and preserve a small piece of their story.
